PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - Portland Mayor Keith Wilson spent Tuesday evening canvassing a northeast Portland neighborhood, urging voters to approve his proposed parks levy in next week’s election.

Wilson called his efforts a “full-court press” to push for the measure, which would create a new property tax beginning in 2026 and continuing for five years.

The proposed levy would cost property owners an additional $1.40 per every $1,000 of assessed property value. The measure is estimated to raise $456 million to fund renovations and preserve free and discounted access to recreation programs for impoverished families.

Wilson said great parks are part of Portland’s identity.
