FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Il. (First Alert 4) - On Wednesday Morning, educators and union leaders from the Metro East boarded a bus bound for the Illinois State capital to call on lawmakers about money for public education and state services.
They say the money was promised, but so far has gone undelivered.
Dozens of members from the Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT) and Southwest Area Council (SWAC) were on the bus headed to Springfield, Il.
They say the plan is to push lawmakers for a significant increase in funding for K-12 education, even if it means raising taxes on wealthy individuals and corporations.
Members say Illinois Gov. Pritzker is also withholding about $25 million in funding from colleges and universities across the state.
