The lead attorney for Karen Read is calling for an investigation into Boston police Commissioner Michael Cox for what the lawyer alleges were “patently false” public statements about Read’s high-profile murder case.
Alan Jackson sent a letter on Monday to Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Enrique Zuniga , head of the state POST Commission , which oversees police accountability and can decertify officers for misconduct.
Requests for comment were sent Tuesday morning to spokespersons for Cox and Wu.
A spokesperson for the POST Commission said the agency had received Jackson’s letter and “cannot confirm or deny the existence of any investigation or comment on any case that may be pending.”
In his letter, Jackson claimed the police commissioner misled the press.
