The Atlanta Falcons appear on track to have their starting quarterback return in Week 9 against the New England Patriots.

Coach Raheem Morris told reporters on Wednesday that he expects Michael Penix Jr. to take a majority of the reps in practice this week. The Falcons quarterback missed Week 8 with a bone bruise in his knee.

While Penix remains day-to-day, Morris feels good about his chances of starting.

“He feels better than he did last week. Obviously he feels better than he did every single day with it being a bone bruise,” Morris said . “That stuff gets better every day. So, I feel really good about him.”

The Falcons come into Gillette Stadium on Sunday having lost their last two games, while the Patriots have won six straight and sit atop the AFC East standings.
