A German outdoor gear company claims to have built the strongest and most rugged tent ever - and it looks ready to take on almost anything nature can throw at it.
Heimplanet, known for its high-performance inflatable tents, has just unveiled the latest version of its legendary Mavericks model - now called the Mavericks Blue Ice. The brand says the expedition-grade tent can withstand hurricane-force winds of up to 112 mph (180 km/h), and it's tougher, lighter, and faster to set up than ever before.
The new design boasts improved fabric, enhanced drainage, better ventilation, and a quicker inflation system that cuts set-up time in half.
Heimplanet spent over a decade refining the Mavericks, using real-world feedback from expeditions and rigorous in-house testing. Every upgrade, the company says, focuses on durability, practicality, and ease of use - without compromising the brand's hallmark innovation: the Inflatable Diamond Grid air frame.
While the distinctive structure remains unchanged, the Blue Ice gets a serious material upgrade. The walls are now made of polyester with a 5,000-mm silicone-polyurethane coating, offering improved tear resistance and weatherproofing.
The roof has also been re-engineered with a peak support system that improves rain and snow runoff - helping prevent dangerous buildup in extreme conditions. Seams are slimmer and reinforced for better waterproofing, while a revamped ventilation system keeps the interior dry and comfortable, even during driving rain or strong wind.
The Blue Ice comes with two two-way floor pumps, meaning two people can inflate the tent simultaneously - cutting setup time from ten minutes to just five. It also includes a removable groundsheet, guy lines, extra-large stakes, a repair kit, and a duffel bag for easy transport.
Weighing 55lb (25 kg) and sleeping up to ten people, the tent maintains the same 142 sq ft (13 sq m) floor area and 76.8 in (195 cm) height as the original.
The Mavericks Blue Ice will set you back US $6,439 - but that's actually a touch cheaper than its predecessor.
