Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava will be speaking in Miami on Wednesday to discuss an emergency food distribution as the government shutdown continues.
As the government shutdown nears the one-month mark, funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP will run out.
During the conference, Levine Cava will discuss the shutdown's impact on SNAP, which will be interrupted on Nov. 1, and will outline the steps Miami-Dade will be taking to ensure people who need food will receive it.
Several speakers, including Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins, will be joining Levine Cava.
Meals on Wheels South Florida announced a relief initiative for seniors who rely on SNAP.
