LAKE WACCAMAW, N.C. (WTVD) -- Authorities say a juvenile suspected in a double homicide in Hoke County died by suicide after law enforcement found them near the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina campus in Lake Waccamaw Monday night.

Deputies with the Hoke County Sheriff's Office responded around 6 p.m. on Monday to a home on Cope Road in Red Springs for a report of cardiac arrest. When they arrived, they found two people unresponsive, later identified as Joann Nicole Chavis, 46, of Red Springs and Ted Matthew Chavis, 53, of Red Springs.

Investigators said that Joann and Ted were stabbed to death. The couple's 17-year-old foster child was named responsible for the homicides.
