CLEARFIELD — More local businesses are stepping up to help those who are worried about losing their SNAP benefits. Something Wicked Coffee, formerly known as Bean’s Coffee in Clearfield, is offering a free breakfast to those who are unsure about where their next meal is coming from.
The owner, Karen Blackwood, said she’s doing it because she knows the feeling, and she wants to help people who are dealing with food insecurity during the government shutdown.
“I grew up really poor. I grew up on food stamps. So I know food insecurity really, really well. I know what hunger feels like,” Blackwood explained. “And I love my community and just want to help out however we can.”
She said if you are hungry, they want to help. No questions asked.
