GREENSBORO, N.C. — The UNC Greensboro School of Nursing is holding an all-day simulation training event today to prepare nursing students for large-scale emergencies.

The exercise, called I.M.P.A.C.T. it is short for Interprofessional Mass-Casualty Preparedness and Crisis Training . It will take place at Foust Park, near the Nursing Instructional Building on UNCG’s campus. The scenario mimics realistic mass-casualty incidents, designed to mirror what first responders and health care teams might face in a true crisis.

On-site, actors with injuries simulated by elaborate makeup will play victims. Students will move through stations that include a field triage zone, a mock field hospital and “Stop the Bleed” training. Organizers expect about 250 participants to be involved.
