US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents searched more electronic devices at the border over the past year than ever before, marking a significant spike that coincides with the Trump administration's broader immigration crackdown, according to new statistics published by the government agency and reported by Wired. The new figures show that for the full Fiscal Year 2025 (October 2024 to September 2025), border agents conducted approximately 55,424 searches of electronic devices, including phones.
