The Central Railways and MMRDA on Tuesday assured the Bombay High Court that 627 occupants at Dharavi slum which were to be evicted for the widening of Central Railway (CR) lines in Sion will be given alternate accommodation at Kurla and will be provided with clean and potable water.

The HC was hearing a plea by Dharavi Railway Prakalpgrast Sanghatana (Dharavi Railway Project Affected Association) representing the 627 occupants seeking urgent relief citing that their structures would be demolished without providing alternate and habitable accommodation.

The project pertains to laying of two additional railway lines between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kurla. MMRDA was given responsibility to rehabilitate said persons from the project land between Sion Railway Station a
