Twenty-seven bus stops in Toledo will be upgraded using Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority sales-tax funds starting Monday and continuing through the winter, the city of Toledo announced.

The improvements will include new concrete pads, benches, and trash cans, the city said. The $279,000 project is fully funded by the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority’s Local Investment in Transit Enhancements program, but managed by the city.

“These upgrades will make our transit system more welcoming and accessible for all riders,” said Christy Soncrant, the city’s commissioner of engineering and construction. “We’re proud to partner with TARTA on a project that supports sustainable transportation and improves daily experiences for residents.”
