CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) -- More than 250 people in a Champaign County community were without power Wednesday morning after a power pole caught fire.

Firefighters with the Philo Fire Protection District were dispatched to 1000N and 1800E in Philo around 5:30 a.m. When crews arrived, they learned that the power pole on fire was actually located just east of the intersection of 1000N and 1700E.

The fire protection district said it was clear the power pole had been on fire for "a while," and it had burnt about 3/4 of the pole.

Ameren was notified about the incident and arrived on scene shortly after. The fire protection district added that Ameren handled the fire on top of the pole and also secured the pole.
