After this weekend, former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron and Brian Kelly have something in common: They were both fired by LSU .
Orgeron, known affectionately by fans as "Coach O" while he was at LSU, discussed Kelly's firing on ESPN's "Unsportsmanlike" show on Wednesday.
"Whether or not it's true or not, it looked from the outside Brian Kelly never embraced the state of Louisiana ," Orgeron said.
Orgeron was named the interim head coach at LSU in 2016 when the team parted ways with former coach Les Miles. He impressed enough to hold onto the job and later led the Tigers to the 2019 national championship.
Orgeron was fired two years later after LSU went 11-11 in his final two seasons.
While on "Unsportsmanlike," Orgeron weighed in on what LSU should be looking for in its next coach.
