KINGSTON — A downtown intersection has been dedicated to Canada’s veterans.
Red and white crosswalks at the corner of Ontario and Lower Union streets adjacent to Navy Memorial Park were officially opened Wednesday morning in a short ceremony.

“When I started this initiative a year ago, I think it was very important to ensure that the veterans in the military community is looked upon from a positive point of view,” said retired Lt.-Col. Perry Metaxas, who along with retired retired Maj. Chris Catry proposed the crosswalk to the city more than a year ago. “This being a military town historically, I think it’s the right thing to do.”
