As daylight saving time ends this weekend, Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services reminds residents that with the ‘new time’ should come new batteries.

The clocks turn back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2. In addition to adjusting your clocks, residents are encouraged to take the time to replace the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

Working smoke alarms provide early warning and critical time to escape in an emergency.

“Most fatal home fires happen where there is no working smoke alarm,” says Rick Caddick, Deputy Fire Chief. “Take this opportunity to ensure your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are powered and ready to protect you and your family.”
