NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Metro Water Services is responding to what they believe is a water main break near the Wedgewood-Houston community south of downtown Nashville.

An online map from the agency reports the break happened near 440 Chestnut Street just before 1 p.m. Wednesday. As of about 1:30 p.m., crews are still in the area.

A spokesperson for Metro Water Services said crews believe there was a break to a 36 inch water main.

“We ask motorists to avoid the area as there is substantial roadway damage,” spokesperson Sonia Allman said in an email.
