NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) -- Construction on College Avenue and Landmark Drive is nearing completion, giving drivers a better experience when using the intersection.

"We've had a lot of development in that area, and some extremely successful businesses have created a lot of traffic. We wanted to increase capacity at the intersection to make things safer and operate more efficiently," said Ryan Otto, director of public works and engineering for the Town of Normal.

This project will revamp the intersection, adding a new turning lane from College Avenue going west to Mall Drive, as well as new stop lights and new pavement of the road.

"We're really on the last phase, which is resurfacing. We're going to put a brand-new surface of asphalt on the roadway on College Avenue and Mall Drive," Otto sai
