CLEVELAND, Ohio — Candidates in Cleveland are knocking on doors and showing up at neighborhood events to try and win votes. At the same time, they’re ramping up fundraising and spending thousands to fuel their election bids.

The latest campaign finance filings show that some candidates are fielding substantial war chests and spending tens of thousands of dollars to try and get elected. Many are also spending money or donating to help political allies.

Some candidates, though, have barely scraped any dollars together.

In Cleveland, voters will choose the next mayor, Justin Bibb or Laverne Gore, while 11 of 15 council seats are also up for grabs.
