LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — Opportunity 180, a nonprofit in Las Vegas dedicated to improving and creating high-quality schools, has received the largest grant of its kind in state history from the U.S. Department of Education, officials said.

The organization was awarded $51 million as part of a federal program specifically designed to fund, create, and expand charter schools across the nation, according to an official release.

Officials said the funding will be distributed through sub-grants, which will then be allocated to support improvements at existing schools or facilitate the launch of new educational institutions.
