A New Orleans zoo has three new African lion cubs.
Officials at the Audubon Zoo say the trio was born on October 19 to mother Kali and father Arnold.
They say the cubs are healthy and active. It's the first time lions at the zoo have had three surviving cubs in a litter.
And it's the second litter for the lion pair. Their first was in 2020, when they had two male cubs. Before that, the last birth of lions at Audubon was in 1984 with Asiatic Lions.
The mother and her cubs won't be seen in public for awhile -- about 12 weeks -- so they can bond, get vaccinations and be introduced gradually to the rest of the pride.
Officials say it's a bit too early for them to be making any sounds, but it looks like they are already practicing their roars.
