A search for a teenage boy who never came home from a Central Queensland dam has resumed this morning.

The boy was last seen by a friend at 5pm yesterday swimming at Callide Dam near Biloela, 150 kilometres from Rockhampton.

Emergency services, including police and State Emergency Service volunteers, with assistance from dam management, began a search of the dam and the surrounding area shortly after.

At 9pm police advised members of the public that no extra help was needed on the water as it hamper search efforts.

The search was called off at 10pm, and has resumed this morning.
