The New York Jets have acquired Canadian wide receiver John Metchie III and a 2027 sixth-round pick in a deal that sends cornerback Michael Carter II and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
Metchie has had his career stalled by injury and opportunity after he was traded by the Houston Texans to the Eagles at the end of training camp.
The Brampton, Ont., native missed a year of football after getting drafted in order to get treatment for acute promyelocytic leukemia.
The 25-year-old was selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Texans. In seven games with the Eagles, he caught all four of his targets for 18 yards.
