The park, located at the old dump hill south of Portage, has installed two large picnic shelters made from new grain bins, marking the final phase of a development project that has been in the works for about four years.

“Our project is pretty much done, ” said Chad Gillis, the park’s trail director.

This final stage of development also included upgrading the parking lot and adding a new outhouse-style washroom. It follows the construction of new biking and walking trails last fall.

The “grain bin gazebos” were a natural fit for the park, which already features an agricultural theme.
