COLUMBUS, Ohio —
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced Wednesday that 1,200 criminal cases involving voting misconduct have been referred to the United States Department of Justice.
LaRose said 1,084 noncitizens appeared to register to vote illegally in Ohio, including 167 noncitizens who allegedly cast a ballot in a federal election. Advertisement
LaRose said those cases happened in the four most recent federal election cycles of 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024.
According to the secretary of state’s office, 99 people allegedly voted in two states in the same federal election, 16 people allegedly voted twice in Ohio for the same election and 14 people appeared to have voted in an election after the date of their death.
