The Alachua County Sheriff's Office reported via social media that a man was shot during a disturbance late Oct. 28 at a southwest Gainesville apartment complex.

According to the post, ACSO deputies responded to the Majestic Oaks Apartments, 5800 SW 20th Ave., in response to an "armed disturbance."

Deputies reported that a vehicle crashed into one of the buildings, causing significant damage. A large crowd then gathered that was still engaged in a verbal altercation when deputies arrived.

Witnesses at the scene reported hearing gunshots, and said a person who was no longer at the complex might have been shot.

According the post, the vehicle that struck the building was no longer at the scene.
