MONROE, N.C. – Police are investigating after a student was found with an unloaded gun at a middle school in Monroe.
School officials at Monroe Middle School received a tip Wednesday that an eighth-grade student allegedly had a vape device. The staff located the student and while looking for the vape, they found an unloaded handgun, police said.
Police said no students or staff were ever threatened and that no injuries occurred from the incident.
Investigators are still working to find out how a firearm was in the possession of a student.
