WASHINGTON — Walmart is not closing its stores despite false claims circulating on TikTok linking the national retailer to the ongoing government shutdown and the potential suspension of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits.
Several viral videos on the platform falsely claimed Walmart stores would shut their doors as panic over halted food assistance grows. One user said, “Walmart said the doors will be locked. Ain’t nobody coming in the store but the employees. Place your order online.”
