BARRY COUNTY, MI – A Snapchat video of a father and son allegedly threatening to bring a weapon to school and harm a faculty member led to the closure of a southwest Michigan school district on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
Lakewood Public Schools closed all of its schools Wednesday “out of an abundance of caution” while Michigan State Police (MSP) investigated the incident. Troopers were alerted to the video at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, MSP said in a news release .
Troopers say the video showed a 40-year-old man from Holt and his 17-year-old son from Sunfield. A weapon was seen in the video, along with statements suggesting the student might take the weapon to school and cause harm to faculty, MSP said.
