(WLNS) -- Michigan State's football season has not taken the step forward fans were hoping for. After a miserable loss to a so-so Michigan team last week, MSU is looking for another opportunity to get a surprise win this weekend.

Michigan State (3-5) has not won a conference game this season. The Spartans' last win came back in September against Youngstown State. Minnesota, meanwhile, is 5-3 and a win away from becoming bowl eligible. The Golden Gophers lost at Iowa last week 41-3, so they'll be looking at this as a "get right" game against MSU.

This could be one of MSU's last chances to win a Big Ten game this season. Its next two are against Iowa and Penn State before closing the season against Maryland at Ford Field.
