COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Local students could make the difference between life and death during medical emergencies.
Roughly 500 Northside High School and Jordan Vocation High School students are now verified Piedmont Columbus Regional “Stroke Ambassadors.” They completed their training with Piedmont through an assembly on Oct. 29, World Stroke Day.
“If anybody has a stroke or is feeling those symptoms, I’ll be able to help them,” Northside junior Jake Carter said.
Carter and his peers were taught the acronym “B.E. F.A.S.T.” to remember the symptoms of stroke and proper protocol. The letters stand for balance, eyes, face, arms, speech and “time to call 911.”
