Lakewood Public Schools closed Oct. 29 because of a Snapchat video that included a weapon and alleged threats against district faculty, according to the Michigan State Police.
MSP Lansing Post troopers were dispatched around 11 p.m. Oct. 28 to investigate a threat complaint at LPS in Barry County, the agency wrote in a news release.
Troopers were told a Snapchat video was circulating involving a 40-year-old Holt man and his 17-year-old Sunfield son.
“The video depicted a weapon and included statements suggesting the student might take the weapon to school and cause harm to faculty,” MSP wrote in the release.
LPS staff viewed the video and notified district Superintendent Jodi Duits, who then contacted law enforcement. The district was closed Wednesday out of an abundance of caution
