NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Neighbors are helping neighbors in Nashville. That's what one woman is planning to do because hundreds of thousands of Tennesseans are set to miss out on food benefits due to the government shutdown.
News 2 spoke with Maggie Loftis, a Nashville native who used social media to share an offer to help a family in need during this time. She told News 2 she was overwhelmed by the response.
“I was surprised at just the sheer number of people, not only that needed help but that wanted to help,” Loftis said.
Loftis said she feels helpless with the government shutdown and the uncertainty of SNAP benefits for millions of Americans who rely on that program.
