As construction of the new Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre in Port Elgin nears completion, plans for the future of the existing Centennial Pool in the high school

are underway.

This week, Saugeen Shores council authorized moving forward with a Purchase and Sale Agreement with the Bluewater District School Board for the Centennial Pool, attached to Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS).

The school board plans to buy and re-purpose the pool space.

Mayor Luke Charbonneau calls it a ‘win-win’ saying, “As we prepare for a new chapter of recreation in Saugeen Shores, we are thrilled to see this space reimagined to benefit the youth of our growing community.”

The Town says the Centennial Pool’s location connected to the high school makes the transition a natural fit.
