A man with a history of violence raped and murdered a 9-year-old girl at a Bucks County church in 1962, fled to the south and then sexually abused generations of girls and young women in his own family, officials revealed.

On Wednesday, Oct. 29, Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn announced that a Grand Jury had solved the cold case murder of 9-year-old Carol Ann Dougherty, naming the late William Schrader as the culprit.
While making the announcement, Schorn detailed Schrader’s disturbing history of violence against young girls and women that spanned his childhood to his death in 2002 at the age of 62.
