BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- UAB has a special exhibit on display through the fall semester that is perfect to check out during the spooky season.
The Mervyn H. Sterne Library has a display on witchcraft, magic and medicine. It features books from the UAB Libraries system's rare books collection.
It's a chance for students and other visitors to learn more about the association between what was considered witchcraft and early medical advancements.
"In this time period, you have physicians who were using astrology to make diagnoses and treat people," said Peggy Balch, the curator of the Reynolds-Finley Historical Library. "You had alchemy, which was a very important part of medicine at this time."
The exhibit will remain on display through the fall semester.
