Calgary police have upgraded charges to manslaughter in connection with the death of a man following a fight outside a northwest McDonald’s last week.
The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. on Oct. 21 in the parking lot of a McDonald’s near Crowfoot Way and Nose Hill Drive NW.
Officers responded to reports of a fight between two men in their 70s. Upon arrival, both individuals declined medical assistance and further police involvement.
After confirming the situation had de-escalated and that one of the men had left the restaurant, police cleared the scene.
Less than two hours later, emergency crews were called back to the same location for a medical emergency involving one of the men from the earlier altercation.
