MINNEAPOLIS (WKBN) - Jon Heyman of the New York Post is reporting that former Pittsburgh Pirates manager Derek Shelton is being hired as the new manager of the Minnesota Twins.

Shelton was fired by Pittsburgh last May after leading the Pirates to a record of 306-440 in six seasons.

He replaced former Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle in 2020 after previously serving as the bench coach in Minnesota.

In addition, he was the hitting coach in Cleveland from 2005-09 and 2010-16 in Tampa Bay.

Shelton replaces Rocco Baldelli, who was fired asthe Twins' manager in September.
