1TRENTON, NJ – State Senator Michael Testa (R-1) issued a sharp rebuke Wednesday over what he called the “Democrat Shutdown,” warning that the ongoing federal impasse threatens to disrupt food assistance for struggling New Jersey families.

In a statement released by the New Jersey Senate Republicans, Testa accused Democrats in Washington and Trenton of prioritizing political agendas over the needs of working families.

He called on Governor Phil Murphy to redirect state spending from “wasteful projects” to emergency hunger relief if federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are delayed.
