UPDATE: News 5 has learned the identity of the suspect accused of planning an attack on synagogues in Alabama.

The Clarke County Sheriff's Office said Jeremy Shoemaker of Needham made "credible threats of violence" against synagogues in Alabama and surrounding states..

Investigators said after getting a warrant to search Shoemaker's home, they discovered weapons, more than a suitcase of ammo, body armor, and "other items related to the plans of violence."

They said they believe Shoemaker planned to die in the attacks — and was planning attacks on public officials.
