WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A four-way stop is now in place at a northwest Wichita intersection deemed dangerous. Calls for changes at 135th Street West and 29th Street North ramped up following a crash in August that killed a woman and injured four others , including three children.
The intersection, also the site where Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Deputy Sidnee Carter died in 2022 , is now a four-way stop, changed from a two-way stop.
The safety-improving conversion followed last week’s action by the Sedgwick County Commission to approve the four-way stop.
Following the August crash that killed 42-year-old Tiffany Jones, a lieutenant with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said the deadly collision appeared to be a situation in which one driver failed to yield.
