SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - City leaders are discussing safety improvements for the Red River District after a fight broke out during a large gathering over the weekend of Oct. 24

The incident has prompted business owners and city officials to call for enhanced security measures in the area.

Beatrice Blackmonlee, owner of Moon and Sage Spiritual Shop in the Red River District, said someone threatened her life in the area.

“I’ve been threatened down here, but you know it happens,” Blackmonlee said. “It would be nicer to see kind of more patrol and stuff like that, yea I would rather see more of them down here.”

The weekend fight at the large gathering led Shreveport leaders to discuss safety solutions during Tuesday’s council meeting.
