Even though Hurricane Melissa will pass several hundred miles away from Connecticut, some rain from the tropical system will arrive in the state Thursday.

On Thursday, Melissa will be nearing Bermuda as a hurricane. At the same time, a strong area of low pressure will be moving across the Northeast U.S.
Upper-level winds, roughly around 10,000 feet above us, will draw moisture from Hurricane Melissa and moisten the weather system over us.
As a result, Connecticut will get a period of heavy rain, perhaps even a rogue thunderstorm, late Thursday.
