The attorney for former state budget official Kosta Diamantis is asking a judge to take another look at the jury that convicted him on federal corruption charges.

Defense attorney Norm Pattis filed a motion Wednesday requesting a special hearing.

He said the jury foreperson told reporters that some jurors had seen media coverage about Diamantis before the trial started.

Pattis argues that claim doesn’t match what jurors said during the selection process — when they were asked if they knew anything about the case — and raises doubts about whether the jury was impartial.

Diamantis was found guilty earlier this month on federal corruption charges tied to state-funded school construction projects.
