HIBBING — A drug investigation involving federal immigration officials led to the arrest of at least one man at a Mexican restaurant on Wednesday.
The 36-year-old was being held at the St. Louis County Jail on preliminary charges of third-degree sale of cocaine and possession of a firearm by a person unlawfully in the United States.
A search warrant was executed shortly after noon on the 1800 block of Third Avenue East, which contains La Tequila Taco Shop, leading to a sizable presence of local and federal law enforcement officials.
While the investigation was led by the Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force, it also included the Enforcement and Removal Operations division of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
