Talk about making a first impression. Well, kind of.
In his inaugural game in a Purdue Fort Wayne uniform, Mastodons guard Mikale Stevenson dominated Ball State in an exhibition game Monday, leading PFW to an 84-70 win with 23 points on 10-for-14 shooting, 11 rebounds, seven assists and two steals.
Midway through the second half, Stevenson provided an early highlight for the fans at the Gates Sports Center, stealing the ball at midcourt and going the other way for a dunk on the head of a Cardinal defender so vicious it earned him the No. 3 spot on SportsCenter's Top 10 on Monday night.
"I’m so excited," PFW coach Jon Coffman said of Stevenson after the game. "He’s just touching the potential that he can have and I look forward to coaching him all year long and seeing that growth."
