Jesse and Claire Ernst have lived in their Eustis home, perched on a hill overlooking Crooked Lake, for the past 10 years.
It was their first home purchase as a young couple, and they now have a toddler and a second on the way.
But Sunday's torrential rains proved devastating for their plans of continuing to grow the family.
"This is just like a waterfall, our backyard is just like a waterfall," Claire can be heard saying on video.
Claire said Jesse was out of the home for a period of time, checking on a friend's coffee shop in Downtown Eustis.
"I was putting towels down, that kind of thing," she said. "But I knew I couldn't do everything that needed to be done, so I called him."
"She says water's just pouring down the hill," he remembered.
