ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Those driving on US-231 will have to take a slight detour soon for a planned closure to fix a sinkhole repair in St. Clair County.
The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) says, weather permitting, that they will close US-231 between SR-174 and mile post 222 just north of Pell City on Monday, Nov. 3 at 7:45 a.m. for a sinkhole repair.
During the repair, ALDOT says northbound drivers are encouraged to use SR-174 to US-411 and back to US-231 as a detour. If you are driving south bound, you are encouraged to use the same directions in reverse order.
Officials say they discovered the sinkhole in question July 25 and commissioned a geo technical study to design a permanent solution.
