MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) — Once a month for the rest of the year, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) will host free fraud and scam prevention classes to help community members recognize fraudulent activity and protect themselves from becoming victims during the holiday season.

Each class will be taught by MCSO investigators and will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the agency's office located at 215 Rice Street. Individuals are encouraged to be in the MCSO Records Lobby to be escorted to the training room. No reservation is required to participate.

The dates the classes will be held on are Oct. 30, Nov. 20 and Dec. 18.

Topics that will be covered in the classes include gift card scams, bitcoin scams, and fraudulent text messages and computer pop-ups.
