SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – PeaceHealth laid off 2.5% of its employees this week, with many finding out on Tuesday or Wednesday morning that Friday would be their last day working for the hospital.

“These specific layoffs definitely are a surprise,” Kevyn Paul, Oregon Nurses Association vice chair executive for PeaceHealth Sacred Heart, said. “But in the last few months, we've been getting information that outlines Peace Health's financial goals and their financial strategies. And that it's not a surprise to be cutting in multiple venues.”

In a statement PeaceHealth explained why layoffs at all of their locations are taking place.
